My 8th graders...

This past Saturday was my last Saturday off from
weddings for a long while. So my daughter, Katie,
and I decided it was photo shoot day. She needed
some 8th grade grad photos anyways. We also thought
that having her best friend, Kaya, and her boyfriend,
P.J., come along would be a great idea. Katie and
Kaya love the 'LOVE' sign, so we went to Scottsdale Civic
Center. There is one shot below of the 'LOVE' sign.
On the way home from the shoot I told P.J. that I hoped
he had a good time, because if you are going to date
my daughter, you are going to be in a lot of photo shoots!
Here are our results of the shoot... you can see we had fun!

Sarah and Eric, bundle of joy coming soon!

Sarah and Eric were one of my brides and grooms
from 2009. I was so excited when I found out they
wanted maternity photos-- I love pregnant bellies!
Pregnant bellies are so beautiful, maybe it is because
they are full of hope and the future?

They don't know if it is a boy or a girl...waiting until
the birth to be surprised. I wish them all the best,
for a quick and uneventful birth, and a healthy, happy
baby!

Second Shooter...

Every once in a while I get the pleasure of being a 'second shooter'. Normally I am the main photographer with all the responsibility of getting all the shots. A 'second shooter' gets to look at things from different angles and different viewpoints. Plus a 'second shooter' gets to concentrate more on the art and less on the requirements. Not to say that main photographers aren't artistic, it is just that they can't take as much time and thought about the creative side because the main photographer has a timeline to stick to.

I was 'second shooter' to Mary Sandy this past Friday at Seville. I love shooting with Mary and just love shooting! Here are some of my artistic and photojournalistic selections from the wedding. Congratulations to Britany and Murphy!

Felt like playing with the rings...
This dress had 'to die for' details!

You can tell that the groom and his dad are close.
Bears Fanatic-- the grooms cake!

These three cuties had no clue that there was a ceremony going on!

This groom knew how to work the shot!
The water was so beautiful at dusk!

On Saturday, I went to my niece's birthday party in Tucson.

Photo checklists

Photo Checklists. They are a 100% necessity at a wedding. My checklists are a list I write out that has all of the different group variations that we want to make sure not to miss. This could be as simple as the bride and groom with his extended family to the bride's three generation shot (bride, mom, grandma). If there isn't a list, there is a chance of missing the shot. It is that simple.

Also the list will have a list of special poses that the bride and groom want to try to do. We don't use the list for all of the bride and groom formals, but more for those few 'have to get' shots. Most of my shots of the bride and groom are impromptu. I have the bride and groom fill out my checklist paperwork, and from there I write up a list in order of what we will do them on the wedding day. Organization is great!
